Ms. Jyotika Kalra, Managing Partner Resolve Legal, was Member, National Human Rights Commission India (05.04.2017 -04.04.2022), and presently is Advocate-on-record with the Supreme Court of India.
At the National Human Rights Commission, Ms Jyotika Kalra headed the core groups of women, children & LGBTQ and was speaker at United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), at its 79th session (June 2021) on "Equality and non-discrimination with a focus on indigenous women and girls and intersecting forms of discrimination” and many other International Forums.
Her area of expertise are Constitution Law, Service Law, Corporate litigation, Criminal Law and Matrimonial Law. She has filed many Public Interest Litigations (PIL), significant among them is opening up a channel for females to practice as make-up artists in Cine industry after 60 years; raising the issue of non-recruitment of women in the Armed Forces. She recently filed a PIL in Supreme Court, regarding inadequate Mental Health infrastructure in Prisons. Amicus Curie in the Supreme Court in many leading cases concerning domestic violence, she succeeded in Curative Petition related to cruelty & harassment of married women for dowry. As Member of numerous Sexual Harassment Committees, she has dealt with many complaints of sexual harassment of women at the workplace.
In 2014, she received Award for being an Outstanding Woman by the National Commission for Women, and was honored by the Supreme Court for her prolific writing and publication of three books.
Jyotika Kalra is a renowned Author and eminent speaker, and has attended many national & international conferences and presented papers. Her articles mainly relating to women and law have been published by many newspapers and magazines. She has attended Commission on Status of Women 59 at the United Nations, and was one of the speakers at CSW 65 (March 2021) on the topic “Women and girls- empowerment through responsive quality education”. She had also been teaching at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and was independent director of Power Grid Corporation India Ltd. and Minda Sai Ltd.
